Lesson Twenty-Eight — Rebellions in the Wilderness
Focus of Lesson
This lesson focuses on various rebellions by the people and even family against Moses and God.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read Numbers 11-16 in your Bible.
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Memorize Numbers 13:27-28 (in your heart language).
- Continue working on the Law of Moses Worksheet in Appendix II. As you are reading the text, build out step 1 on the worksheet assignment.
- Write a 100-200 word response to each of the following questions:
- Looking at the rebellion of Miriam, what was her problem with Moses's wife? How was that a sin ? How was her punishment applicable to the sin?
- Prepare a story about the rebellion of Korah. Your target audiance is adults who are interested in the Bible.
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 3-5 Minutes: Bible Fluency Song, "Pentateuch" (to save time, this should be cued up before class).
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #26
- 5-7 Minutes: One student is randomly selected to give the story presentation.
- 15-20 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
- Looking at the rebellions by the Israelites, what are the common themes in these rebellions?
- Looking at the external situation that triggers the rebellion, what are the underlying issues that are leading the Israelites to rebel against God and Moses?
- How do these underlying issues relate to sinful behavior by humans from Adam and Eve through the Patriarchs?
- How do these underlying issues relate to our behavior to this day?
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
