Focus of Lesson
This lesson focuses on storytelling. The purpose of this lesson is to introduce the students to the basics of telling a Bible story to a variety of audiences.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read the lesson on telling a story in Appendix III
- Using the format provided (using the integrated 8 step or the 3 act form), write a story about an exciting event in your life that led to a spiritual discovery for you. The length of the story should be no more than 5 minutes. Write the outline of the story and submit it to the instructor before class starts.
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 15-20 Minutes: The Instructor will use the three story arcs described in the homework materials to walk the students through how to take a Bible story and create a clear narrative arc and present it in an age-appropriate way.
- 15-20 Minutes: Three to four students are randomly selected to tell their story using the outline they developed and receive critique by the instructor and fellow students.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
