Lesson Three — Creation

Pre-Class Assignments

This MUST be completed before class.

• Read Gen 1:1 - 2:4 in your Bible.
• Prepare a story presentation of Gen 1:1 - 2:4 in a way that you think would be suitable to present to an animist tribe. You may prepare it in any format you desire. One of you will randomly be called on to share your story with the class. All students must make a story plot either using the 8 Step Circle or Integrated 3 Act Structure. Take note of the grading rubric to ensure you meet the requirements.
• Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
• Memorize Gen 1:1 (in your heart language).
• Write a 100-200 word response to the following question:
• How is the Creation Story of Genesis different from the traditional Filipino creation stories?

Class Timeline (50 minutes)

• 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
• 3-5 Minutes: Sing Bible Fluency Song Pentateuch thru Deuteronomy
• 5-7 Minutes: Quiz #1
• 5-7 Minutes: One student is randomly selected to present the story.
• 15-20 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
• How is the Creation Story of Genesis different from the traditional Filipino creation stories?
• How is God different in the Biblical story vs a traditional Animist story?
• How can the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit be seen in the Creation Story?
• How are human beings special and different from other creatures in the Bible Story vs an Animist story?
• What are the implications for human rights due to this difference?
• 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
• 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
