Lesson Thirty-Three — Moses’s Sermon, Part 2

This lesson focuses on the final part of Moses's sermon.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read Deutoronomy 7-11 in your Bible.
- The story assignment from the last lesson will be repeated. A new person will be chosen to give an overview story of Israel from Abraham thru Moses.
- Memorize Duet. 9:6 (in your heart language).
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Continue working on the Law of Moses Worksheet in Appendix II. As you are reading the text, build out step 1 on the worksheet assignment.
- Write a 100-200 word response to each of the following questions:
- Looking at the story of the Hebrew people so far, what does it mean that they are God's "chosen" people? How does that apply to us today?
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 3-5 Minutes: Bible Fluency Song, "Pentateuch" (to save time, this should be cued up before class).
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #31
- 5-7 Minutes: One student is randomly selected to give the story presentation.
- 15-20 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
- Let's discuss the nature of God's choosing of the Israelites and not the Canaanites? Looking at the history of Israel so far and specifically in Duet. 7:6-10 and 9:4-7. Discuss the following:
- Why was Israel chosen to be God's people?
- How does God view the relative status and righteousness of Israel to Canaanites?
- How does this apply to how we as Christians should think of ourselves as compared to unbelievers?
- How does this apply to the Jewish people today?
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
