This lesson focuses on the establishment of the Law of Moses.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read Leviticus 23-27 in your Bible.
- Memorize Leviticus 24:17-22 (in your heart language).
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Continue working on the Law of Moses Worksheet in Appendix II. As you are reading the text, build out step 1 on the worksheet assignment.
- Write a 100-200 word response to each of the following questions:
- Compare and contrast the nature of the Islamic and Biblical narratives of Abraham. How does this compare to the study you previously did of the difference between the Biblical and Islamic narrative of Adam?
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Prayer led by students
- 3-5 Minutes: Bible Fluency Song, "Pentateuch" (to save time, this should be cued up before class).
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #23
- 30-35 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
- In looking at the Law of Moses, what do you think these laws tell you of the nature of God and his relationship with Israel and with humans in general?
- In looking at the Law of Moses, what laws sounded the most challenging for you to agree with? Why?
- Compare and contrast the story of Abraham and Ibrahim. What is the biggest difference in the character of Abraham vs Ibrahim and the biggest difference in their relationship to God?
- How do these differences in the narrative likely affect the beliefs of Christians vs Muslims?
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
