Lesson Fourteen — Joseph, Part 2
Focus of Lesson
This lesson focuses on the second part of the story of Joseph.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read Genesis 44:1-50:26 in your Bible.
- Prepare a story presentation of Joseph and his brothers. This is a very long story so you will have to find your emphasis and application point and focus your narrative to that. You likely will have to drop details in some areas to meet your time requirement.
- Memorize Gen.50:20 (in your heart language).
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Write a 100-200 word response to the following:
- In the stories of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph, list out and give a short summary of each king and nation / tribe that God worked through to bring about this story.
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 3-5 Minutes: Bible Fluency Song, "Pentateuch" (to save time, this should be cued up before class).
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #12
- 7-10 Minutes: One student is randomly selected to present the story.
- 15-20 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
- Discuss the work of God in Joseph's life. God took what his brothers meant for evil and turned it into good. How does that reflect on God's sovereignty over all things in His universe? But what if the evil thing that happens to you does not turn out for a blessing (like Job or Joseph) and you die in loss?
- Looking at the Book of Genesis, compare your lists of kings and nations / tribes that God worked through. Then discuss what is the summary lesson about God and man that you get from the story of his work through these nations and through Abraham to Joseph.
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
