Lesson Thirty-Six — Covenant Renewal and Death of Moses

This lesson ends the Pentateuch with the death of Moses and transfer of leadership to Joshua.
Pre-Class Assignments

- Read:
- Deutoronomy 29-34 in your Bible.
- Moses in the Stories of Islam Booklet Series
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Memorize Duet 30:19-20 (in your heart language).
- Continue working on the Law of Moses Worksheet in Appendix II. As you are reading the text, build out Step 1 on the worksheet assignment and finish up work on Step 2.
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #34
- 35-40 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:

- What major differences did you notice between the Biblial narrative and the plot of the movie?
- How does watching the movie inform your own storytelling ideas?
- Let’s look at the story of Moses in the Bible...
- What were the strengths and weaknesses in Moses's character?
- Why did the people follow Moses?
- What was Moses's relationship with God?
- How would you have done a better job that Moses?
- Let's compare that to the story of Moses in Islam.
- What were the strengths and weaknesses in Moses's character?
- Why did the people follow Moses?
- What was Moses's relationship with God?
- Which Moses is more likable, more heroic? Why?
- Which Moses character is more believable, more like humans?
- Compare and contrast the two Moses's... In what ways can their characters affect a person's view of God and religion?
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
