Lesson Twenty-Two — Offerings and Nadab & Abihu
Focus of Lesson
This lesson focuses on the establishment of the Tabernacle and temple worship system.
Pre-Class Assignments
This MUST be completed before class.
- Read Leviticus 1-10 in your Bible.
- Prepare a story about chapter 10. You audience is college students. Make sure to introduce the basics of temple worship and the foundational facts regarding the ceremonial law relevant to this case. Cover Aaron's response and then make an application to God's holiness.
- Memorize Leviticus 10:3 (in your heart language).
- Answer the Study Questions from the Study Questions Book.
- Watch the videos on Muslim Mosque Worship and the Hajj

- Write a 100-200 word response to the following prompts:
- Summarize the temple worship process and procedures regarding how the incense is to be offered (refer to Exodus for more details on this).
- Continue working on the Law of Moses Worksheet in Appendix II. As you are reading the text, build out step 1 on the worksheet assignment.
Class Timeline (50 minutes)
- 2-3 Minutes: Opening Prayer led by students
- 3-5 Minutes: Bible Fluency Song, "Pentateuch" (to save time, this should be cued up before class).
- 5 Minutes: Quiz #20
- 5-7 Minutes: One student is randomly selected to give the story presentation.
- 20-25 Minutes: Discuss the following questions with the students:
- Compare and contrast the Islamic Mosque and Hajj worship with the descriptions of Temple Worship in the Law of Moses. You have not read all the law of Moses regarding this, but enough to start discussing it.
- What are the main similarities and differences? Why do you see similarities? Why are the differences significant?
- Can you see the difference in the relationship Muslims have with their god, "Allah", from their worship as compared to Israel and God?
- Can Islamic Mosque and Hajj forms and traditions be re-used in Christian worship? Why or why not?
- 5-10 Minutes: Instructor closes with their feedback on the storytelling event and their own conclusions about key points raised during the discussion.
- 2-3 Minutes: Closing Prayer
